Are you looking to invest in the latest new technology for your Salon or Clinic, if so you may be thinking about Radiofrequency Microneedling. But how much does a Radiofrequency Microneedling machine cost?
There has been a buzz about this treatment over the past 2 years, since Judy Murray was seen in the Daily Mail looking 10 years younger. She had one particular brand, but there are many devices which do the same thing.
In fact there are so many systems on the market that it can be truly mind boggling for Salon Owners wanting to invest. I know this because I’m a salon owner too, and have regularly purchased equipment over the past 17 years for 3 salons.
So I’m going to do my best to give you an honest break down of how much Radiofrequency Microneedling devices cost and what to look for.
RF Microneedling vs Morpheus8 machine?
Firstly let me explain something which gets confused all the time.
RF Microneedling is the technology – which uses Radiofrequency (RF) energy directed through Micro-needles which penetrate the skin, so it happens simultaneously. It’s an incredibly effective treatment, which hugely improves the skin.
Morpheus8 is a device or brand, (the one Judy Murray had) which uses RF Microneedling. It’s a bit similar to how everyone calls a vacuum cleaner a Hoover. Hoover is a brand – but there are hundreds of other brands which are also vacuum cleaners.
So Morpheus8 is one brand, but there are many more which offer the same type of treatment. Of course the brands will always tell you why they’re machine is different or better, but that’s for another time!
We’ll look at the range of prices of Radiofrequency Microneedling machines now. Plus we’ll also look at the consumables you need to buy for each treatment.
Most expensive Radiofrequency Microneedling Machines
Morpheus8 is the most expensive of the devices. It costs approximately £48,000 to purchase the machine with the Radiofrequency Microneedling handle. (You can purchase extra handles to do other things which can cost a further £10K or more)
It is considered to be the market leader, with proven results and a lot of clinical research behind it. It also has a lot of celebrity endorsements and is heavily marketed. It has all the functions you’d expect, with a full range of adjustments to tailor the treatment. That’s why you’re paying top end for this machine.
Think of it a bit like a designer handbag, you’re getting a great quality product, but you’re also paying a lot extra for the name, the marketing and the kudos of that name.
More affordable Radiofrequency Microneedling Machines
You could pay between £15,000 and £28,000 for what I’d class as the mid range of machines. These systems have virtually the same functionality and in many cases include an extra technology for no extra cost.
Focus Dual costs approximately £28,000. Other names include Divine Pro, Endymed, DuaLift etc.
Technically the needles in these systems don’t go as deep as Morpheus8. Many reach 3-3.5mm depth for face treatments (Morpehus8 reaches 4mm). For face treatments you don”t want to penetrate too deeply or you can lose fat. So in reality the needles go deep enough and produce the same result.
These systems allow you to adjust the needle depth, the Radiofrequency power, the duration and also the vacuum setting etc. They also use high quality gold plated needles.
In my opinion there’s little difference between them in terms of achieving results for your clients. (I have used many of them)
Budget Radiofrequency Microneedling Machines
At the budget end of the scale, systems will cost around £3,000 – £6,000.
I don’t have any brand names for you, because they tend not to be branded. The downside of these systems is that they often have less ability to adjust. So they’ll have less choice of needle depth, and little or no choice of Radiofrequency power.
I have personally used or tried many of the more affordable machines as well as the most expensive. However I’ve not tried any budget machines. I’m not saying they are good or bad, as I don’t have first hand knowledge. I just know you can purchase cheaper systems, so for more info on these you’ll have to do some research yourself!
The cost of Consumables
Each Radiofrequency Microneedling treatment requires a tip – which is single use for most devices. The tip contains needles which go in and out of the skin hundreds of times per treatment. Most machines have a choice of tips – usually one for the face and one for the body and sometimes a smaller one for scarring or around the eyes.
Morpheus8 tips come in different sizes, primarily for face or body.
- Morpheus8 Face tips cost £65 plus VAT each.
- Morpheus8 Body tips cost approx £95 plus VAT each.
More affordable systems also have a choice of face and body tips.
- Face tips cost between £20-£30 plus VAT each
- Body tips usually cost the same price, £20-£30 plus VAT
Budget systems
- Also have Face and Body Tips
- Cost around £10-£20 per tip.
Is it worth buying a Radiofrequency Microneedling machine?
You need to work out your numbers to work out if it’s worth getting one of these devices. There’s certainly a lot of benefits to the treatment, but unless it makes your business money then there’s no point in purchasing one!
If you were to buy a Morpheus8 system, you’d pay £48,000, plus every treatment would cost you at least £65 for the tip. Therefore the price you charge your clients would have to recuperate these costs, and make you a profit.
If you bought a more affordable machine, then the initial outlay is half that cost, and the tips are also less than half.
Morpheus8 recommend you charge £600-£1,000 per treatment. A course of 3 will cost around £2,000
Other systems such as Focus Dual, DuaLift, Divine Pro you’ll find around the £300-£500 per treatment. A course of 3 will be around £1,000-£1200
I suppose you need to ask yourself – do you want the Porsche of machines – and want the kudos of having this, with prices to match? Or do you want something more affordable which still delivers results? It depends on your business model, and your numbers.
